A Cheap way of editing is that you could do it video to video- by playing on one an recording on the other.....its a long process but effective:
PROBLEMS::1..When you pause on the recording video you've only got so long before the pause automatically turns off so find the next scene on the other video quickly.
2..you have to do it in one go because if you stop the tape instead of pausing it then it will leave a nasty break in your film...
there are a few more but i guess practise makes perfect!!
email me if you come across any more problems: [email protected]

Get alot of film because in editing you'll want a choice of what comes next instead of having to put the next shot in beacuse its the only one.

Get yourself a mike--they are fairly cheap and you could just plug it into the mic socket on your camera if you have one
or
Naration could be done seperate and added in or the cheap and crappy way would be to get someone to say it behind the camera while filming.

What kind of camcorder is it a sca-12 or sca-18?What type. Anyways you should have a tv,and vcr and a camcorder.Well they usually sell cheap editors in pawn shops or flea markets for less than $50.This cheap editors can edit your videos by controlling your vcr and camcorder. They are usually only to cut and nothing more but some can do titles and transitions. But make sure they are compatible with your camcorder.Samsung is a Korean brand and they usually have A/V inputs and ouputs so they should be compatible but make sure your cam is compatible with the editor. In any case you can always use your cam and a vcr to edit.

Shooting in public eh?
I wouldn't worry about that...
as long as you're not on private property,
it's usually okay (and if you don't get caught on private property, ha ha).
Obviously most people on this forum don't have huge budgets to buy permits and such...but it can be worked around. If you are using a city street scene, all is well.
Nobody can say "Get off the streets!"
Even moviemakers are part of the public.
Yeah, it's true.
Actually, in my most recent short, I had to have a couple pharmacy scenes. I just asked the manager of CVS if I could film for about an hour...given I stay out of the customers' way. He was suprisingly positive and gave me the ok. The real pharmacist even ducked behind a counter to stay out my way.
The only problems I ran into were unwary customers looking at the camera.

I'm 13. In the same basic dilema that I love Kubrik is in exept I have a VHS, 2 8mm (one sony handycam and one canon) and the studio 400 video editor. I guess I'm set with equipment but I still need pointers on things like asking to shoot movies in public places and the like.
